What does "Training" mean to me?

Daily movement is essential.  Movement is life. We need to be walking and challenging our essential movement skills like balance, coordination, stepping up/down/over/under, lifting, carrying, climbing, jumping, throwing, catching, etc on a frequent basis. To me these are non-negotiable for optimum health.

We can all benefit greatly from understanding and feeling our inner bodies and outer movements.

Training however I see as working towards a specific goal or outcome.  Training could be everything from building back up after injury or surgery, to being able to lift your own bodyweight, to preparing for a new challenge, to running ultra endurance races.

Training for me is about getting strong in the body and the mind, what you learn about yourself and your capabilities along that journey and how it reflects on every area of life.

Training is about the process, the journey, working on small incremental changes, learning from last week what you can do different the next week.

Training is being prepared to do anything you want to do, climb that mountain, go snowboarding, swim in the sea.

Training is building strong foundations, improving fitness capabilities, improving resilience to stress.
